The first bureau (1971) was composed of: Giulio Battelli (Rome, president), Emilio Saez (Barcelona) and Jindrich Šebanek (vice-presidents), Robert-Henri Bautier (Paris, secretary general), Alessandro Pratesi (Rome, vice-secretary general), Carlrichard Brühl (Giessen, treasurer), Heinrich Appelt (Vienna), Aleksander Gieysztor (Warsaw) and Wolfgang Hagemann (Rome, counsellors).
